The IS course is the second in the Controls Expert Training Series. This course will provide a technician the necessary skills to design, install, commission, and troubleshoot Carrier’s i-Vu Open i-Vu System tier products, the i-Vu Open network, and the i-Vu Open tools.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this course, each student should be able to:
Install, download, and commission field applied controllers including:
- Connect to a MS/TP network via Field Assistant
- Discover devices and upload/download control modules
- Understand sequence of operations and schematics
- Proper control module selection
- EquipmentBuilder – utilizing all the .sal libraries
- Adding programs and graphics to UC Open controllers
- Linkage – temperature / waterside / single point
- Complete commissioning of equipment
- CCN to Open via UPC Open Controller
- Legacy algorithms
- Understanding SNAP custom programming and graphics
- Property pages
- Source files
Setup an i-Vu® Server, to include:
- i-Vu® Server setup
- Installer tree setup
- Floorplan graphics
- User tree setup
Training Methods Used
This course uses a combination of classroom lecture, demonstrations using the controls simulators, computer lab and workshops to present the material. Student’s achievement of the learning objectives is determined by successful completion of the workshops, and final written exam. Workshops are instructor guided exercises using the procedures taught in the lectures.
Prerequisites
You must complete and have passed the Carrier Comfort Systems (CS) class to attend this course.
Completion requirements
To receive a certificate for this course student must be present for the entire course, complete all workshops and receive a grade of 70% on graded final.
Class hours
Class starts at 8 AM and runs until 5 PM each day that training is scheduled. All commercial control classes are multiple days in duration. Travel arrangements should be made accordingly.
Food
We will be providing coffee, water, and a light snack that can be consumed through the day as well as a catered lunch.

$1250 per student
